Team Spotlight: Boys Varsity Hockey 2021-2022

Dec 15, 2021 10:38:09 PM

Proctor’s boys varsity hockey team is just three games into their thirty game schedule, losing two early season tilts due to COVID-19 protocols with other teams. Two of those three games ended on last second game winners against tough Lakes Region opponents. For this group of young, determined, hard-working athletes, the journey that lies ahead is one filled with unrealized potential. Four games at the Lawrence/Groton Holiday Tournament await the team this weekend, but before they hit the ice, we caught up with Maks Watton ‘23, Jack Robinson '22, and goaltender Donald McCarthy ‘22 for this week’s Team Spotlight.

Team Spotlight: Boys' Varsity Soccer

Nov 10, 2021 9:15:50 PM

After graduating a talented group of seniors last season, Head Coach Ian Hamlet and Assistant Coach Peter Southworth had a number of holes in their lineup heading into the 2021-2022 season. After a stellar start to the season that saw the team jump out to a 5-2-2 record midway through October, the injury bug hit the Hornets hard. The last third of the season has been a challenge, but the silver lining of injuries and shuffled lineups is the opportunity to develop young players and provide chances for others to step in and make a difference.

Proctor’s girls’ varsity soccer team is a perennial power in the Lakes Region, but this year’s squad might be one of the deepest and strongest we have seen in quite some time. With a core of eleven seniors and a pool of talented younger players, the Hornets are off to a 6-2-1 record after falling to Holderness School on Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Kyle Connolly and senior captain and four year player Brynne Makechnie ‘22 shared insights into their team’s success in this week’s Team Spotlight.

Oct 5, 2021 8:00:00 AM

With back to back home games to kick off the 2021 season, Proctor’s varsity football program has been front and center this fall. Opening wins over Portsmouth Abbey (31-7) and Canterbury School (19-17) have the Hornets off to a tremendous start to the season. Relying on veteran leadership and new talent, Head Coach Ben Rulli is optimistic about what this group of young people can do as they grow together both on and off the field.

Team Spotlight: Cross Country Running 2021

Sep 29, 2021 8:00:00 AM

How many schools have a Cross Country course that winds along a beautiful river, through FIS homologated Nordic trails at a privately owned and operated ski area, and then opens into a field of sunflowers? Our guess is none. And yet this is the scenery that welcomes Proctor’s Cross Country team each day. After a year of mini-meets due to COVID-19, runners and coaches are thrilled to be back among the masses at this fall’s full league meets. With a Lakes Region meet Wednesday afternoon at the Proctor Ski Area, we caught up with senior Colin Shaver ‘22 and coaches Sarah Daney and Scott King to hear about this year’s squad and their goals for the season ahead.
