Proctor Athletic Award Recipients Honored

Thursday evening, teams met one final time for the Fall Athletic season to recognize individual players with end of season awards. Over the past ten weeks, all of Proctor’s student-athletes and coaches have dedicated tremendous time and energy into creating a valuable shared experience within each team. While every athlete has improved over the course of the season, team awards recognize those individuals whose outstanding contributions through leadership, sportsmanship, or ability made a significant impact on the team’s success this fall.

Ocean Classroom: Passage Complete!

Proctor's Ocean Classroom has arrived safely in St. Croix after a ten day passage from Charleston, South Carolina aboard the Schooner Roseway! While written reflections by students on the journey will eventually articulate the magnitude of this accomplishment, video footage captures perhaps more than words can at this point in time.

Tuesday evening, Proctor faculty and staff had the privilege of hearing Dr. Angela Currie from NESCA (Neuropsychology and Education Services for Children and Adolescents) speak about anxiety levels in teenagers today and the impact those increased levels of anxiousness have on the learning process.

Community: Understanding Nametags

Friday evening, the Proctor community had the opportunity to watch Chris Waddell’s documentary, “1 Revolution” during which he becomes the first paraplegic to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro almost entirely under his own power. As part of Proctor’s speaker series, Waddell’s documentary (trailer embedded below) was followed Saturday morning by a presentation called “Nametags”.

Ocean Classroom: Setting Sail for St. Croix

After being stuck in Charleston, South Carolina for a few extra days due to offshore weather, Ocean Classroom is in the midst of a twelve day passage to St. Croix. Students share reflections on their time in Savannah and expectations for the voyage ahead.

Wired wrote this article earlier this week, “American Schools Are Training Kids for a World That Doesn’t Exist”. Proctor identifies itself as a college preparatory school, however, we believe deeply in preparing our students for far more than simply college.
