Friday and Saturday evenings, Proctor’s theater department presents Beauty and the Beast in the Wilkins Meeting House. The Disney classic adapted for the stage features well known songs, plenty of drama, and wonderful comedic timing by members of the cast. For seniors Cope Makechnie (Belle), Jay Piere (Lumiere), Addie Lindley (Babette), Grey Bechok (Maurice), Cyrus Davis, Matt Arruda, Drew Childs, and Jacqui Morris this weekend provides one final opportunity to share their talents on stage!

With a cast and crew of nearly fifty students, this spring’s production has been a massive undertaking by director Jen Summers, costume director Joan Saunders P’08, P’12, P’13, P’17, music director Rob St. Cyr, choreographer Kyle Tremblay, Kate Jones, and the other faculty volunteers who have helped prepare the show over the past two months.

From the opening number, it is clear this production features remarkable talent. While some cast members have extensive experience on the stage, others are just dipping their toes into the realm of theater. Senior Grey Bechok (Maurice) shared his reflections as a first time actor in THIS BLOG, while Dylan Conrad ‘19 (The Beast) played a minor role in last spring’s production of Urinetown, and steps into a lead with confidence and enthusiasm.

Throughout the show, the depth of talent at Proctor shines. Whether it is Cope ‘17 transporting the audience to another world when she sings “Home”, Jay '17 collaborating with the ensemble on the incredibly complex rendition of “Be Our Guest”, Dylan ‘19 embracing vulnerability as he sings “How Long Must This Go On”, or Avery Nye '20 showcasing her beautiful voice as Mrs. Potts in "Tail As Old As Time", you will not be disappointed by this performance.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast on a term’s worth of hard work coming to fruition in this wonderful production!
