Over the next five days heading into Thanksgiving Break, we will be sharing a few thoughts on what we’re thankful for here at Proctor. We encourage you to extend your gratitude to the members of the community who positively impact your life as well!
This past weekend was a prime example of the impact of Livestream video coverage of the four different arts performances Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Over 300 Parents and friends of Proctor from around the country who were unable to attend the events were able to tune into Livestream and see students in action. Over the course of the Fall Term, Proctor was able to broadcast well over a hundred athletic events, performing arts recitals, and special assembly performances thanks to work of Director of Technology Jim Cox and his technology team.
Each of these events requires significant time and energy on behalf of Proctor’s technology department. Setting up equipment, teaching students to video and broadcast, checking internet connections on fields, and staying until the final athletic competitions are complete each Wednesday and Saturday is no small feat. As demands have grown to Livestream more events around campus, Jim and his team have jumped into the new challenge with open arms, and have expanded their operation to meet demands by launching a second Proctor Livestream channel.
Proctor’s Technology Department’s efforts extend well beyond Livestreaming events, however. Whether it’s upgrading Proctor’s network, wiring the Brown Dining Commons during the first week of the term, fixing projectors in classrooms, or keeping our laptops, iPads, and iPhones up and running, we too often take for granted the work that takes place behind the scenes that allows our highly tech-enabled campus to operate smoothly.
On this Day 1 of our Week of Thankfulness, we extend a heartfelt thank you to Director of Technology Jim Cox and his Technology Team for their hard work, for helping hundreds of parents and grandparents feel just a little bit closer to life on campus, and for keeping our campus moving forward in this ever-changing world of technology.
Be sure to leave a comment below expressing your gratitude to Jim and his team!
