Ocean Classroom: A View from the Keys

Proctor Academy's Ocean Classroom program has arrived in the Florida Keys after a 400 mile voyage from northeast Florida. En route to Mobile, Alabama to see first hand the last slave ship to arrive in America (the Clotilda) and to continue their studies on the history of involuntary servitude, injustice, and the Civil Rights Movement in America, the crew of students from Proctor and the MET High School (Providence, RI) are well on their way to becoming true sailors. Proctor’s Winter Ocean Classroom program is in transit from St. Augustine, Florida to the Florida to Key West and the Dry Tortugas. The program brings twelve Proctor students together with seven students from the MET School in Providence, Rhode Island for a one of a kind immersion learning experience at sea. Proctor en Monteverde: Life with a Host Family

Proctor’s term-long off-campus programs ask students to step outside of their comfort zones, while immersing themselves in new cultures around the globe. For six sophomores this winter, Monteverde, Costa Rica is home. Living with a host family, studying Spanish, history, math, science, and literature, all while exploring the most bio-diverse region of the world affords the experience of a lifetime. Following a two-week Winter Break, students reconvened in New Mexico and explored the Santa Elena Canyon and embarked on their first river trip of the term. Proctor en Segovia: Snapshots From a First Week Abroad

Mountain Classroom: Winter 2022-2023 Hits the Road

For the 52nd year, Proctor's Mountain Classroom program immerses a group of ten students alongside two faculty members in the backcountry around the United States. The first three weeks of winter Mountain Classroom saw the group explore Florida before taking a two-week break and returning for the remainder of term in the American Southwest.
