For near a decade, Proctor has aired live athletic events, performances, and assemblies to countless online spectators. With the most unique year that any of us have experienced, the need for high quality, live broadcasting of athletic contests, and performances at Proctor has never been more vital. Proctor's talented technology team has been hard at work making sure cameras are ready and signals are strong to ensure the highest quality production possible.
Afternoon Program Spotlight: The Woods Team
Sep 30, 2020 8:00:00 AMAt many schools, afternoon activities consist primarily of competitive team sports. However, at Proctor, we follow a different model, and if one were to talk to any person associated with Proctor, they would realize the true variety of options there are for students to pursue during the afternoons. If you’re not a fan of competing in a traditional team sport on a field, you could always compete on the trails as a part of the Mountain Biking team. If you’re interested in spending your afternoons helping preserve this beautiful campus and the surrounding area, you could join the Community Service Group. If being active and exercising makes you happy, you could become a weight room monitor in the afternoons and tend to that space.
Quiet Work, Big Impact: Proctor's Board of Trustees
Sep 29, 2020 1:49:25 PMLate Friday afternoon, we posted the image below on our social media channels with a caption that read, “These posts never get the most likes or shares, but this group (and a few more that didn't fit on the Webex screen) of Board Members and Members of the Corporation is so critical to our school and its future that they deserve a little air time.”
Acedia: Name It. Legitimize It. Learn to Navigate It.
Sep 28, 2020 2:42:02 PMWe all experience moments when we struggle to initiate. We stare at our computer screen and wait for inspiration to strike, longing for our to-do list to snap into a sharp focus we have not experienced for months. Sometimes it does and we experience that elusive sensation called productivity. Far more often, we don’t. We drift through our days, doing our best to engage over Zoom meetings, Webex calls, and emails, longing for face-to-face human interaction.
Ocean Classroom: Anchors Away (Finally)
Sep 25, 2020 1:11:01 PMJust over a week ago, twenty-one Proctor students set sail for Ocean Classroom’s 27th year of changing lives through a term at sea. Students and crew aboard World Ocean School’s schooner Roseway trained in Gloucester Bay to wait out inclement weather before heading north to The Gulf of Maine. We will post weekly updates from Ocean Classroom on The Buzz, but encourage you to check out the daily Ship’s Logs posted on World Ocean School’s website.
Academic Lens: Constancy in Motion
Sep 23, 2020 12:27:40 PMAcademic Lens: 2019-2020 Underclass Awards
Sep 21, 2020 10:00:00 AMMonday's assembly recognized underclass award winners from the 2019-20 school year. Due to being remote last spring, we could not present the awards in person and chose to wait until this fall with the hope of recognizing each of these students face-to-face. Now that we are back on campus, we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate and publicly acknowledge each student's incredible effort and energy they put into their academic pursuits. Congratulations to all award winners!
Proctor Athletics: Embracing a New Normal
Sep 20, 2020 9:36:13 PMAs we conclude our first week back at Proctor, there remains a cloak of uncertainty over the campus. Although students and faculty alike are as connected as ever, the current state of the school in regards to COVID-19 is new to everyone. Faculty and Staff spent the better part of the summer planning every aspect of school in hopes that we would be able to return to in-person academics this fall. Aside from classes, one of the staples of Proctor life needed to be adjusted as well: afternoon activities.
