Academic Lens: Assigning Homework To Our Parents

Apr 17, 2015 10:37:00 PM

Families arrived on campus this morning to attend classes, assembly, and athletic practices before engaging in parent/teacher conferences. As our last post discussed, the purpose of this weekend is to check-in on growth, progress, and learning.

Academic Lens: The Reverse Funnel Theory

Apr 7, 2015 11:10:00 PM

Today was our second of three Admission Revisit Days. We share our campus, facilities, programs, and, most importantly, our students with prospective families. It is our students who define our school culture, are the face of Proctor, and ultimately it is the relationships families make with our students that most heavily influence their decision to attend Proctor.

European Art Classroom: 1st Week Surprises

Apr 6, 2015 6:45:00 AM

Our two-month adventure in Europe started in the United States, specifically in Boston after we said goodbye to everyone’s parents and Kayden. There was obviously a very indisputable sense of excitement among us that night. We left Boston that evening and after hours of flights and layovers, we finally found Dave and Jen waiting for us at the airport, along with Fifi and Liv. At last, we were all united.

Academic Lens: Why Breadth AND Depth Matter

Apr 2, 2015 11:59:00 AM

More than 150 families will attend our three Admission Revisit Days over the course of the next week. Each will walk away with an authentic sense of who we are as a school. More importantly, perhaps, each will have the chance to talk to our students about how Proctor’s educational model has transformed their lives.

Academic Lens: Applying the SAMR Model

Mar 24, 2015 4:35:00 PM

Proctor’s faculty had the privilege of working alongside Ruben Puentedura, Ph.D for today’s professional development day. Puentedura’s presentation of his SAMR model of technology integration combined with small group workshops proved incredibly powerful as faculty began to rethink how technology intersects with pedagogy at Proctor.

Academic Lens: A Living Education

Mar 20, 2015 10:46:00 AM

While we obviously must avoid placing our students in danger, we must allow them to explore their world. We know there is no better way to learn than to live, and there is no better way to build confidence and courage as a learner than to actually be responsible for navigating life. At Proctor, we seek to provide a living education, not an observational one.

Community: Are You #ProctorBound?

Mar 10, 2015 12:30:00 AM

Over the past months, Proctor's admissions team has worked hard processing well over 600 applications for the 2015-2016 school year. Last night at midnight, acceptances were emailed to prospective students who we think will enrich Proctor's community. Congratulations to the newly admitted students, we hope each decides to be #proctorbound!
