Proctor on Snow: Early Season Training

Despite record setting warmth for the month of December, Proctor's snow sport athletes are getting on snow for early season training! Not only is the Proctor Ski Area open for business, but Nordic skiers, USSA/FIS racers, and Freeride skiers and snowboarders have traveled the globe to find early season terrain. 

Proctor Athletics: Fall Term Award Winners

Thursday evening, teams met one final time for the Fall Athletic season to recognize individual players with end of season awards. Over the past ten weeks, all of Proctor’s student-athletes and coaches have dedicated tremendous time and energy into creating a shared experience within each team that leads directly to student growth. While every athlete improved over the course of the season, team awards recognize those individuals whose outstanding contributions through leadership, sportsmanship, or ability made a significant impact on the team’s success this fall.

Proctor Athletics: A Weekend of Highlights

This past weekend was filled with athletic highlights, as eight Hornet teams hosted games. Friday night saw three tremendous performances by varsity boys' soccer, varsity field hockey, and varsity girls' soccer, while Saturday included more of the same from all of Proctor's teams. Proctor alumni represented the Hornets well in their college contests as well!

Catching parts of some terrific contests – football, soccer, field hockey – over the past week, I have seen displays of raw athleticism and savvy field plays. Games have been intense, competitive, and enjoyable. I have stood at the sidelines and felt the surge of spectator adrenaline and felt pride (mostly) in the sportsmanship.

Each year certain weekends on the calendar jump out. We look forward to them with anticipation. This weekend is one of them. Starting Thursday afternoon with Ocean Classroom’s departure, the Proctor community will embark on a 48 hour celebration of all that makes Proctor such a special community.

Proctor Athletics: Sports Camp 2015

While new students trek through the White Mountains on Wilderness Orientation, 130 student athletes take part in Proctor's annual pre-season sports camp. Five days of double or triple sessions provide a tremendous opportunity to develop skills, work on tactics, and improve fitness before official tryouts begin next week. 

Proctor Athletics: Spring 2015 Awards

Proctor's spring athletic season has come to a close! In assembly on Friday, we recognized Marvin Award winners and outstanding team accomplishments. Among those notable performances were Varsity Baseball's best record in 10 years (10-6), a Lakes Region Championship for Girls' Tennis in #1 doubles, and strong showing by our cycling team throughout the league series this spring including Scott Johannen winning the boys' Class B season title!  

Proctor Athletics: Class of 2015 College Bound

With only a handful of days until graduation and spring sports teams wrapping up the regular season, the reality that college is only a few short months away is beginning to set in for the Class of 2015. For many seniors, their final moments of their athletic careers are upon them. For those seniors playing at the next level, however, this new chapter represents a continual dedication to maximizing their potential and through the encouragement of coaches and teammates.
