European Art Classroom: Winter '16 Week 1

Flying over the South of France only 9 days ago was the first glimpse I got of the mountains and the surrounding water of the Mediterranean Sea. Was I really here? When I was offered the spot on this wonderful program only a little over a month ago I had many things running through my mind. Excitement. Disbelief. Fear. Could I make this possible? Could I go?  

Mountain Classroom: Beautiful Fools Reunite in Texas

After a two week winter break, Proctor Academy's Mountain Classroom group reunited in Austin, Texas for the second half of their journey across the American Southwest. After a few days of reconnecting in Blanco State Park, the group began preparations for their weeklong backpacking trip in Big Bend. Mountain Classroom: A Visit to Red's

Following Mountain Classroom's week long journey up the Mississippi River, they spent two days in Clarksdale, MS visiting with high school students before touring William Faulkner's home and Rowan Oak.  They then traveled to visit a politics professor at Ole' Miss before making a stop with river ecologists at the USDA research station in Oxford, MS. As the group breaks for two weeks, Avery '16 leaves us with this reflection from Clarksdale.

Mountain Classroom: The Journey Begins

Proctor Academy's Mountain Classroom program begins its 43rd year of students and instructors setting out on a life-changing journey across the American Southwest. This winter's Mountain Classroom group, along with instructors Coco Loehr '07 and Timbah Bell, have made their way from Eagle Pond in Wilmot, New Hampshire to Buffalo, New York and just yesterday morning departed Foxhollow Farm in Louisville, Kentucky bound for Clarksdale, Mississippi and a week of canoeing. A Global Impact: Summer Service Trips 2016

Each summer Proctor students and faculty travel to connect with communities around the globe. Summer Service trips to Guatemala and Southeast Asia are once again planned for Summer 2016, and we cannot wait to see the impact of these service trips on both the communities and our students involved.
